Kitchen Display System (KDS) helps the kitchen keep track of incoming orders in real time. Instead of paper tickets, all orders are displayed digitally, providing better oversight and a more efficient workflow. Here, we'll walk you through how to get started and use KDS with your POS system.

Get started
To set up a station, log in to Backstage → External Hardware → Kitchen Display → Add Kitchen Display. Next, select which store the station should belong to and give it a name—for example, "Hot" or "Bar." Then, choose which groups and products should be assigned to this station.
How does it work if you're using multiple stations?
If you're using multiple stations, such as Kitchen and Bar, the assigned products in an order will only be displayed on the station they are assigned to. For example, if you create an order with a Burger and a Drink, the Kitchen will receive an order for the Burger, and the Bar will receive an order for the Drink.
Open the app and log in → Select an available license → Click the gear icon to access settings, where you can customize the display to suit your needs.
Would you like to add a printer and receive orders both on the screen and on paper?
Select your printer under "Printer" in the settings. This will allow orders to be both printed and displayed on the screen.
Incoming Orders
You can choose between two views, depending on what suits you best. You make this selection in the upper right corner.
Do you like both views?
You can easily switch between the two!
When an order is placed at the checkout, it will immediately appear on your Kitchen Display. You can choose to mark the entire order as complete by clicking on "Done," or you can mark individual items as complete. If you accidentally click "Done," you can use the undo button to restore the order.
In the history, you'll find all the orders you've marked as complete. Here, you can view a list of your orders and order details by clicking on a specific order.
Limitations
Currently, users of Courses cannot use the Kitchen Display. We are working on making it available for this feature. If you'd like to be contacted when this becomes possible, please feel free to reach out.
If you want to use a printer with a Kitchen Display, the printer must be connected via Lightning (cable from iPad to printer) or LAN. It is not possible to connect a printer to a Kitchen Display via Cloud.
If you're using Ticket queue, please note that orders in a Ticket queue will not be grouped on the display, but the order number will remain the same. This will be addressed in a future update.
