X-Report (Current Daily Sales)
An X-Report is a snapshot of the current sales data, typically run during a shift or business day. It shows ongoing totals, including sales, payment methods, taxes, and cash drawer balance. Unlike the Z-Report, running an X-Report doesn't reset the system, allowing staff to check progress without closing the day’s transactions.
Z-Report (End-of-Day Report)
A Z-Report is a summary generated at the end of the day or shift. It shows total sales, payment methods, taxes, refunds, discounts, voided transactions, and cash drawer activity. Once the Z-Report is run, the day's transactions are closed, and the report resets for the next business period.
You can set up Z-Reports to reset automatically at a specific time every day with the option to send them to any email. This is done in Backstage under Reports Settings. It is also possible to manually generate a Z-Report through the app under Reports. If you generate the report manually, the automatic report will not be created, ensuring that you won’t get multiple Z-Reports for the same day.
