VAT for Food & Take-away

Prev Next

On April 1, 2026, the VAT on food will change from 12% to 6%. Takeaway food is considered food. Therefore, as a seller of takeaway food, you will have to deal with different VAT rates for food served on site and food for takeaway.

This change is temporary. On 1 January 2028, VAT rates will return to the previous system.

For those of you using Yabie, this is no problem. Here we go through how to get it right when selling food & takeaway

The set up of the feature takes place in Backstage. Also, make sure you update the app to the latest version, 3.36.
