If you’re switching to Yabie from a different till system you may be able to export your current product catalogue to a file. Since all till systems are different, the export file will almost certainly be structured in a way that is different from the structure that we use in the Yabie catalogue.
The import wizard helps you translate the data from your export file to a format that Yabie understands, and then helps you import the contents to the Yabie product catalogue.
The Import Wizard is a Backstage feature. It’s a part of Import/export inside the Product catalogue section.
Prepare your export file
Before using the Import Wizard, you need to figure out how to export your catalogue from your existing system. The file needs to be in either Microsoft Excel format or in CSV format (”comma separated values”). Please consult the documentation for your previous system or ask your provider to help you with this process.
Upload your file
When starting the Import Wizard in Backstage, you can drag and drop or click to upload your export file. Press the button to start and wait while the AI-powered system analyses the contents of your file and matches it to what’s required for the Yabie product catalogue. How long this takes will vary with the number of products in your catalogue.
Inspect the mapping of your catalogue content
After analysing your file, the wizard will present you with two columns. These are there to show you how it proposes to map your data, and to highlight required data where it hasn’t been able to map anything and may need your help.
The column on the left describes the data that the Yabie product catalogue expects.
The column on the right displays the data that the wizard has found that it believes matches the corresponding expected data in the Yabie catalogue.
The line items in the column on the right are presented in dropdown menus. This allows you to change the mapping if it is incorrect.
Let’s say the wizard mistakenly has applied cost price where it should have applied sale price. Use the dropdown menu to find sale price in your source data, and simply select that instead.
Import your catalogue content
Once you are happy with the mapping, go ahead and select Import. In the next step, the wizard shows you a preview of how the data will be imported into the Yabie catalogue. Please inspect it and check that the correct data seems to be in the correct columns. You will be asked if you want to add the imported items to your catalogue, or whether you want to replace everything with what you are importing. If your catalogue is currently empty, it will not matter wether you choose to replace or add.
